Photographer, graduate of the National School of Photography in Arles, Olivia Gay studied art history in Bordeaux and photography at the New England School of Photography, Boston, USA, before practicing the profession. as a press photographer (1998-2008). Since her beginnings (Jineteras, Cuba, 1997) she has conducted research on the representations of the female social body in specific fields such as the factory, the supermarket, the refugee camp, the shelter or the prison. Lecturer at the University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne between 2017 and 2020, she is currently a doctoral student as part of the programRadian, Caen-Cherbourg. Her research, entitled "Women at work: images and economy, for comprehensive photography", concerns the creation of an edition composed of a plastic work (photographs, drawings, paintings) and a theoretical reflection around her approach. understanding. His works have been exhibited at the European House of Photography in Paris, at the Île de France Photographic Center in Pontault-Combault, at the Galerie du Château d'eau in Toulouse or at the Pinacoteca in Sao Paulo, Brazil and at the MAST Foundation. in Bologna, Italy. She received the Joy Hendricks HSBC Special Prize in 2018 (France), and the GD4 Art Prize from the MAST Foundation (Bologna, Italy) in 2010.
