Ael Thery
After studying Chinese language and civilization (license at INALCO) and cooking (BTS in hotel and catering), Aël Théry turned to anthropology, obtained a Master's degree at EHESS and is currently pursuing her research in doctorate.
She studies proccesses of transmission, learning and practicing the profession of cook, in Taiwan first then in China, in her thesis entitled "Culinary worker and craftsman of the Nation: a political anthropology of the profession of cook in China ", under the supervision of Isabelle Thireau (EHESS-CECMC) and Sandrine Ruhlmann (CNRS-UMR8173).
She co-directed with Marine Ottogalli her first documentary film "Ayi" (Anafilms, 2019, 69 minutes), portrait of a street cook in Shanghai.
